The science of a manhunt - video interview with crime analyst Sam Robins

A young mother has been stabbed, a killer is free and the clock is ticking. While detectives and forensics experts are searching for clues, how do crime analysts help catch a murderer on the run?

Video interview with Crime Analyst Sam Robins who was part of the team who caught David Baxendale - one of Britain’s few ‘Whole Life Order’ killers.

Sam was the Intelligence Manager on the Major Crime Team at Surrey Police in May 2010 when, late in the evening, the call came in: a young mother had been murdered in her home.

What followed was a double-pronged inquiry. The team had to:

  1. Discover what had happened to Sarah Thomas, who had been found in her flat in a quiet English village.

  2. Identify then catch her killer - who was on the run.
